Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-01
This site is a reference work. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into and no form to fill in, which keeps this policy shorter and plainer than most. What follows describes what actually happens when you visit, not what a template assumes.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or any other personal detail. There are no accounts, no newsletter sign-up, no enquiry forms and no "request information" widgets anywhere on this site. Nothing you type is sent to us, because there is nothing on the site to type into.
We do not sell, rent or share personal information, because we do not hold any to sell. We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media trackers, session recording or heat mapping.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages people find useful. Google acts as our data processor and receives your IP address, which it truncates before storage, along with your browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you stay and the site or search that referred you.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser for this purpose, typically named
_ga and _ga_<id>. They distinguish one visitor from
another across pages and repeat visits. They carry no name, email address or anything
else that identifies you to us, and we never attempt to connect them to a person.
You can block this entirely. Any browser setting or extension that blocks Google Analytics will stop it loading, and the site works identically without it. Google publishes its own opt-out browser add-on, and its handling of the data it receives is governed by Google's privacy policy rather than this one.
What Is Stored On Your Device
One thing, and it is not a cookie. If you use the light and dark toggle in the header, your
choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme so the
site does not flash the wrong colors the next time you open it. That value never leaves
your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
Server Logs
This site is served as static files by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which keeps standard access and security logs. Those logs are how any web host distinguishes a real visitor from an attack, and they are handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors.
Links To Schools And Other Sites
Every program on this site links out to the school's own page, and our pages cite federal sources including IPEDS and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, subject to their privacy policy and their trackers, not ours. We have no control over and take no responsibility for what they collect.
How This Site Makes Money
This site may receive compensation when readers request information from or enroll in programs featured here. Sponsored placements are labeled. Accreditation status, wage data, and program structure data are sourced directly from official records and are reported the same way regardless of partnership status.
Worth being precise about what that means today: the links on this site are plain outbound links to schools' own pages. We do not operate lead forms and we do not pass visitor information to schools or to any advertising partner. If that ever changes, this policy and the disclosure will change with it, and the change will be dated at the top of this page.
Children
This site is written for people choosing a university degree and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them, which is straightforward here given we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your Rights
Privacy laws including the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA and CPRA in California, give you rights to access, correct, delete and port personal data an organization holds about you, and to object to its processing. We hold no personal data about visitors, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or erase.
The exception is any email you choose to send us. If you write to us, we hold that email in order to reply to it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. To exercise any right, or to ask what we hold, write to help@hakia.com.
Because we run no advertising networks and share nothing with data brokers, there is no "do not sell or share my personal information" mechanism to offer. There is nothing being sold or shared.
Changes To This Policy
If what we collect changes, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. The cases most likely to trigger that are enabling analytics and adding any form that submits information.
